I used to write poetry quite regularly a few years back. I usually labor a lot over right sentence length and the tonal quality. The results do pleasantly surprise me on occasions. But, I find this manner of poetry-writing an exercise in vanity, especially because it does earn praise when the reader finds something intense in my poems, but it is me who would know that the emotions apparent therein would be outcome of juggling of words and not as much spontaneous catharsis.
But a few poems in between have been outbursts, though. However, I must add all my poems do very much stand for what I had been while writing them. Because even when I try to juggle with words, the effect that I seek to achieve with them is never outside of my canvas of experiences.
Hope, you enjoy reading them as much I had enjoyed writing.
