I just like all THIS. So I post all this just like THAT!

Take a look at the two new widgets at the top of my left sidebar.

Thanks! Not for looking, but your comments!

Of course, I am not entirely convinced by the numbers shown. Especially, TUIB's low 'score'! ;)

Whenever I look at my blog, I feel satisfied by at least one thing--comments have largely been sincere.

There have been numerous arguments and disagreements, but honestly, they have only reassured me that those thus commenting had not simply glossed over ideas presented in my posts. That those ideas had been able to stir something in the reader to induce them to engage them with at least some thoughtfulness. Of course sometimes, those very dissenting/different thoughts have given me something new to think about, and made me see the World in an altered way.

There have also been posts with comments full of frivolity. And am glad, they were expected to be like that! :)

Some might ask me, do I care for comments? Yes, I do.

I am not one of those inclined to instantaneously put pen to paper (even if so in the 'virtual' maze of electrons being thrashed around) owing to a spontaneous outpouring of my passions. This could probably be because of a high 'turnover rate' of my emotions! Meaning, new emotions keep on displacing the older ones very quickly, which would not allow any single emotion to exert sufficient influence on my ego (click; second meaning) to make me write about it! Okay, bad theory! Though some posts, to my own suprise, have been emotional outbursts as well!

So, I do not write in isolation. I do expect that my ideas find readers--not (necessarily) with same ideas as mine, but those who would have thought on the very same issues, if not before, at least after reading!

Yes, I do look forward to comments on my posts!

To end this post, I would only say that my blog has become a very integral part of my life, which I had never imagined when publishing my first few posts.

And very suprisingly, it has brought me in contact with a few people, who I could safely call my 'friends'! A few wonderful people who I truly value today for reasons more than one, and who I would have not known, had it not been for this medium. I am overwhelmed, and to them I could only say, though it would sound cliched on my blog:

Thanks for existing! And also for letting me know that you did. :)

  2. Yeah, a blog helps the blogger in many ways... That you say it has become an integral part of your living is so very true in case of all those who blog seriously.

    I liked the widgets! :)

  3. What does the top commentator get? Lemme know so I can up my score :)

  4. I cant say for others but I write for my readers. The comments I receive inspire me to write better, express better and evaluate myself better. The starting posts were insipid as hell and if wasn't for the encouragement I received from my regular commentators my *third* blog would have perished as well :)

I've been reading your blog for a while now but I guess I needed the right post to stir up my soul enough to pen down my thoughts :)

Good work on the blog. Keep it up!

  5. What you put out there you get in return my FRIEND! I don't need a widget to tell me that you are the top commentator on my blog. Glad I made it to number seven! ( 7 is my lucky number)

    :)

I'll be sure to look you up when I come over to India! Blogging: Facilitating friendships through cyberspace.

  6. widgets and more widgets !!! ..they should develop a widget for writing blogs for us .. blogging ,somehow to me has become an integral part of my life..more like a personal diary..yeah,ive met some good freinds thru blogging and i cant think of not blogging!..

  7. Wow, Ketan! This was a very warm one! :)

I also do not need a widget to tell me that you are the top commentator on my blog. :D

I love the widgets tho' and maybe my competitive streak (if it does decide to show itself) will push me to improve my 'score'.

I have also gained quite a great deal since I started blogging. A lot of different people and a lot of different ideas. It has been very rewarding.

And I am glad I met you here, Ketan. Also, your blog's started getting very jazzed up, no? ;)

  9. @ soin:

Welcome, and suprised to know you've been reading my blogs for a while.

    1. What's the point in telling me you disagree with me on many counts without actually pointing out what they are and why?

    2. I've never stated I myself possess any enthusiasm in saving the World! What you see as my long comments is only me trying to pass some time in entertaining fashion. Of course, self-entertaining. ;)

    3. Yes, among 'we', you can surely argue in small sentences. The length of my sentences (and their number) would depend upon what that argument is, and against what.

    Thanks and take care.

    @ Insignia:

Yes, it was kind of! But a slow-motion one. :( This realization hit me, and it took me around half-an-hour to type and post this, and also had to take care of the limitation on length imposed by my publishing this from my cell phone. But the last sentence was most definitely heart-felt, and rings true whenever I think of my blog, life and blog-friends. :)

    @ Darshan:

Thanks! I've gone through a few of your posts. You'd surely find my comments there in very near future! :) Why I mention this is 'cuz I know you mean what you say! TC.

    @ Rakesh:

One who first registers 1000 comments gets a BMW stolen from your blog! The winner would be announced tomorrow/yesterday/today, basically, on 31st November! :P

  10. @ Smitzy:

It indeed gives me great pleasure to know that you've been reading my blog for some time, now! :)

    Thanks for the compliment.

While, I won't say I write for my readers, their comments are indeed important. The difference is hair-splittingly subtle.

Nice to know your blog did after all find the requisite encouragement to sustain a good writer like you. Yes indeed, with right kind of readership for our blogs, even our 'real' lives are greatly enriched, just as you pointed out.

I'd discovered your blog through BlogAdda a few weeks back, and have certainly liked it. :)

You might experiment with the buttons above, and you might just land up on posts that could interest you.

Welcome to my blog, finally! Take care.

    @ Dr. S:

Your blog will certainly hold a special place in my heart. It was one of the earlier blogs I had discovered, and maybe also the first blog by a medico!

You are the only non-Indian blogger with who I have such a regular interaction.

I've been hearing for long about your wish to visit India, but nothing seems to be materializing from your end! And meeting me? Wow! The idea is very attractive, but then I hope you'll not use your scalpel on me without anesthesia! :) Actually many people might bless you for attempting that. :(

  11. ...
Anyway, very long time back, I had answered a query on Yahoo! Answers (click), as to places worth visiting in India. It might somewhat help you plan your itinerary. Plus, of course, you could always email me, whenever your plan concretizes further! Cheers!

    @ Bedazzled:

    Welcome to the blog!

But you confuse me! Which of the following two shall I believe:

    1. "they should develop a widget for writing blogs for us"

    OR

    2. "i cant think of not blogging!"

But I understand, you yourself must be confused with 14 personalities residing within you! But surely, it's interesting! ;)

    Thanks for dropping by!

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ TUIB:

    Thanks!

You sure, I'd the top commentator on your blog? I'd discovered your blog pretty late, really! Okay, I could be one of the top commentators. :) Why don't you actually try to put that widget? It would be fun. Plus, some competition always offers perverse pleasure. ;)

I hope, you didn't get me wrong in the post. I felt you've put in significantly more than 13 comments on my posts, so not sure of the reliability of this widget.

The gladness blog-meeting you is shared by me, too. :)

'Jazzed up'? Well, I looked up the dictionary. If you mean kind of cluttered up, then yes, it has. But am not finding time to go to the cyber cafe to only improve upon this template further. Plus, I'll have to learn a LOT more of HTML and java code for that. :)

    TC.

    @ diaboli:

I've not read Harry Potter, so couldn't grasp the profundity of your comment. But seems like you're saying something good about my blog/me/yourself/narcissa malfoy, so cheers and welcome to the blog!

I see, you've been dropping by on my blog for like last 3 weeks (or more?), so glad to finally 'meet' you here! :) And sorry, I goofed up on your blog, you're not 'pagal kutta'! Take care.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Your blog on the first glance looked interesting will affirm my words when I have read a few posts... but thr is just way too much content on the page.. All i see is alphabets, boxes..A page overflowing with info..

    ReplyDelete
  14. I, too, am happy and thankful that I exist! :-)

    Cheers,

    Quirky Indian

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oi! Which pathetic dictionary have you been using? Chee chee.

Jazzed up in extremely no-frills terms means upgraded, improved, and decorated. :P

I'm pretty sure it'd be you as top commentator coz you write a comment and then follow it up, which most people dont care to do.

I dont want too many widgets on my blog tho' I added that map thing out of sheer indulgence..

see, already I'm increasing the number of comments per post! :D

    ReplyDelete
  16. i am a regular follower of your blog but very slow in commenting
is there any way to let the author of the blog know that some one visited his/her blog
atleast i would love to have this just for my morale boost up

    ReplyDelete
  17. Pallavi,

Thanks! I'm impressed with your honesty, really.

Yes, my blog was getting cluttered. Have just today made a few changes. Do let me know, if it's become any easier to read my blog.

    Welcome!

Do you write a blog, yourself?

    Take care.

    @ Quirky Indian:

Yes, you should be! ;) Thanks!

    @ TUIB:

See jazz up at Wiktionary (click).

Anyway, it's alright, even if you actually meant it! I was myself thinking the same! Especially, those big button were looking very ugly. :(

Even priorly, I'd been told that my blog looks too cluttered with very little gap between the blog posts and the sidebars.

So today, yet again, after some intensive research, I altered the template, again! :) Hope, you could spot the changes. Like, the dotted lines.

Then, a crisper-looking menu just below the header.

Also, now the labels occupy the entire blog page's width as against only the central half.

I think when I get free, I'll start designing Blogger templates. And might gift a few to some of my blog-friends... depending on their 'score'! :P

I think the widget is quite unreliable. Yesterday, it was just showing 13 comments for you! And it has reduced bechara Vishwas' tally from 30 to 29, that too when he just added a comment! I hope, you're not bribing the widget. ;)

Some widgets are very entertaining, for instance those which tell you about 'hairy armpits of...' and '... Ek kinky bitch'! LOL!

Also, they greatly help you in identifying anonymous comments. For instance, I know who that anonymous commentator was on your batman post (not me!). Of course, which is not to mean, you don't know. But with these widgets, you could be more sure.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @ Anju ma'am:

Thanks for letting me know that you follow my blog, regularly.

Apart from the blogger possessing telepathic power, or extremely fertile and wishful imagination, there's no way to let them know you'd actually read their posts, except for putting in your comments. :)

Widgets like on the top of the right sidebar (Google God's vagaries) might help, though. ;)

    TC.

  19. @ Ketan, umm..nope I don't find much difference yet, still too much info to distract me from doing a focus read. I guess, I am ready to give it a chance and come bk a few times ( maybe I do get used to it) :)or I might just give up!

    Yeah i do blog @ taxfreethoughts.wordpress.com

PS: I am impatient reader and some of your posts are way to long for me to read till end..phew am I being to critical. But yeah for sure interesting headings and starts..told ya didn't read all till end

  20. i started blogging only four days back.so am confused mr.ketan. and how do you track people on cyber space? shit i thought i was safe here..cyberstalking cyberstalking.help.i am a pagal kutha.but a crossbread with a lazy donkey.so am too lazy to get up and bite you.
and narcissa-your first post seemed like you were a self centered like me.but reading on i take back that mr.ketan.

  21. I like the changes you've made, Ketan!

It looks much neater now. Come to think of it, the buttons were effective, but a little large yes.

Very nice. You prolly will design a good template. :)

Okay, just to make it clear that wiktionary gave you the wrong impression and what I really intended, I'll show you a better dictionary entry.

    Look at this.

    http://www.yourdictionary.com/idioms/jazz-up

And you can track anonymous commentators??

    Wow! Thats scarily cool!

And of course, I know. There's more ways to identify a person than just his html address. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  22. well said:)

when i first checked ur blog, ur "well-articulated disagreement line.." really impressed me..

i don't think i would have grown emotionally, if i had not blogged..so like you, i do appreciate the people i have come across..

cool widget, now let me get it:)

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ Pallavi:

What you say about not finding much difference in my blog's is extremely discouraging!!! I'd spent over 4 hours only to add these dotted lines, increase the width of the blog posts, remote a few widgets, remote those ugly-looking buttons at top and increasing the width of tag-cloud to make it look less cluttered. And you say, 'not much difference'!

Okay, sorry for the histrionic reaction! :P Was only trying to enliven the comments' section.

Quite honestly, if you'd getting distracted by all the widgets, then I must thank you, 'cuz very few users have been exploring them. And a lot of thought goes behind my putting them there. For instance, in the left sidebar itself, you'll find two polls I'd conducted, a link to blog that comes up with a list of 10 new things everyday, then link to a freely downloadable eBook.

In the right sidebar, you'll find the search engine results that lead people to my blog.

Plus of course, the other regular things that you can see. :) I know my blog page looks cluttered, but I find it difficult to part with all this info!

But anyway, once you're done with exploring these widgets you'll grow bored of them, and start reading my posts (and hopefully read them to conclusion). :)

Just below the header, you'll find a menu. The 'short posts' button leads to all posts published through my cell phone, so they don't take much longer than 5 min to read. Also, 'flash fiction' takes even less time to read, and so do my 'poetry'.

All in all, all these short posts form a significant chunk of my blog, not leaving much chance for you to complain on that front, at least. ;)

But if my posts are not able to engage your interest/attention, then also it is understandable, 'cuz I don't try to write in an attractive manner. Or maybe, am incapable of that. ;)

    @ diaboli:

If my guesses about you turn out wrong, then they should only make your further glad. :) It would only mean, you could get away with cyber crimes!

As I told you, you're not the 'pagal kutta'. That was a misunderstanding. :)

But to the extent I could make out correctly, you'd been coming to my blog for around last 3 weeks.

And your manner of blogging and dealing with people tells me, you had been a very seasoned blogger in the part. :) Or maybe, if I'm wrong, then you're an extremely fast learner. :)...

    ReplyDelete
  24. ...About the 'self-centered' thing, firstly, isn't there an irony in what you say? The fact that you ventured out to draw some conclusions/or allowed impressions to form on your mind about me--an entirely unrelated person, itself goes on to show you're not that very self-centered.

Plus, there's a small distinction to be made between being self-centered and living in isolation.

The former is possible, the latter is (practically) not.

And the last thing I want to point out is, almost every human quality, to draw analogy from presumably your field of expertise, is not digital but analog! It's not only 0 or 1 as whole numbers that's there to human nature. These qualities span a wide spectrum from -1.00000 to +1.00000! Hope you don't miss the fact that excessive number of zeros have been added after the decimal point only to stress on the concept of significant figures, and the continuum of intensity of attributes they stand for, including self-centeredness v/s interdependence. :)

Sorry, I actually do not want to type such lengthy comments, but somehow even your very comments are making me think and hence clarify a lot. You can take that as a compliment.

    TC.

    @ TUIB:

Those buttons were looking extremely ugly, and I had no idea of that 'cuz I'd added them through my cell phone, and not seen them through a computer screen for like months. Don't they provided entertainment to how many people. I mean, the hilarity of it all!

I can't exactly track anonymous comments. But those not in the know, do end up leaving sufficient clues for circumstantially, it all to add to particular users.

But as you said, for those blatantly foolish/rude, even IP address is not required to recognize them!

I've not left even a single anonymous comment still starting of blogging!

    TC.

    @ WDM:

Yes, you must get those widgets! I want to know my standing.

And, thanks! I hope, you haven't changed your impression formed on the basis of 'well-articulated disagreement' by now. :)

    TC.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ Ketan, Sorry buddy if my comment discouraged you.. it was an honest reaction from a reader who comes to a blog only to read what's been written by the author and not to explore or spend time on those boxes and widgets and graphs and who's come from where and see I can't even recall the top 5.

I am looking forward to reading some of the quickies on your blog.. oh comeon now don't fish for compliments, just that your posts are long and your comments even longger... :)

    But you do write well!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ketan!
I'm sorry that I couldn't comment earlier...I read your post, but I had so much to write and very little time. Really sorry.

Firstly, Can I just say that this is a REALLY sweet post? Every blogger would like to know that their comments are valued. And you have an excellent way of showing it, with the 'take care' and all.

I dunno about you, but I call you my friend. By 'friend', I really mean the normal meaning of friend. I mean, age difference aside, I guess.
Not that age difference matters. I mean, anybody of any age can be friends, right? But people of same age group are more likely to become friends.
    Wait. Now I'm jumbled up.
Anyway, in plain, simple English, you're my friend.

And well, is the frivolity remark directed at me? If it is, its okay...I've been told that before.

    Happy Blogging!

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ Pallavi: Thanks again for your honesty!

The 'discouragement' thing was totally a joke! You can't afford to take everything I say seriously, especially, if you'd have read my about me! I've literally coined the terms--bullshit and bullosophy! ;)

And no, I never fish for compliments, I totally love them and blatantly ask for them! For instance, you could 'promote democracy' - take a look at the blog adda widget! ;) And thanks for the compliment. I truly don't find my writing attractive; it probably comes off as quite labored. But I'm not getting into a debate on this! :P TC.

    @ Srishti:

Thanks for calling my post sweet. :)

You'll find this quite ironic coming from me, but one of the things I do not do is to CLASSIFY human relations.

Any two humans can be bound by any relation at any point in time. And these relations keep on changing from moment-to-moment. Right from mentor to protege to parent to child to savior to tormentor to friend to enemy to well wisher to ill wisher to lover to hater to supporter to dissenter.

Plus, some relations can be mixture of more than one! Important is to experience the feelings these relations and interactions bring.

So basically, you did not have to attempt such an elaborate explanation as to why you consider me a friend. I understand. Thanks! And I consider you the same. :)

It is not my age interacting with your age, but my ideas, knowledge and emotions interacting with yours! And it should ideally be the same with every fellow human. Problems usually arise when there's deliberate attempt to mislead others through our words and gestures! ;)

The frivolity-remark was not directed at you at all! You're really getting paranoid, now!! That remark was directed at the posts - precisely the frivolous posts that I've written!

Thanks for commenting and following my blog so regularly. :)

    TC.

Well-articulated disagreement would be a very good indicator that I was understood, and would be appreciated more than perfunctory agreement or praise. But of course, you could agree and praise...
